Hey You, Pikachu! (ピカチュウげんきでちゅう Pikachū Genki dechū) is a game developed by Ambrella and released by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. The game was originally released in Japan in 1998, but released in North America in November of 2000.

Development Edit

Hey You, Pikachu! began its development in early 1997. The game utilizes the Microphone accessory of the Nintendo 64. This feature allows the player to "talk" to Pikachu. The game was develped by Ambrella.

Gameplay Edit

The game takes place at the player character's home where they talk to their new Pikachu. The character is given a new device developed by Professor Oak which allows him to talk to his Pokémon. Doing so allows the pair to have Pikachu explore around the region, allowing them to visit several other Pokémon throughout their adventures.

The game features several types of days in which the player and his Pikachu play different games, do various activities, or just do chores around the house. Activities could include playing around with other Pokémon, fishing, or collecting goods such as food or other items around the house.

The game takes place throughout 365 days with the player and his Pikachu. After this final 365th day, Professor Oak comes to the player's home and releases the Pikachu. Afterward, the player goes to the woods and says "goodbye." The credits roll, and afterward, the player and the Pikachu are reunited. The game plays similarly after the reunion as if Pikachu never left.

Reception Edit

Hey You, Pikachu! received light reviews. While several Pokémon fans enjoy this title, several others have criticized the game was being one of Nintendo's very experimental games, and should have been implemented better than it has been.[1][2]
